What is a Patient Support Program?A Patient Support Program (PSP) is a service provided by pharmaceutical manufacturers or healthcare organizations to assist patients in accessing and using prescribed medications. These programs often offer a range of different services that may include: Financial assistance: Providing financial aid to help patients cover the cost of their medications. Reimbursement navigation: Guiding patients through the complexities of insurance coverage and reimbursement for prescription medications. This may involve assisting with applying for coverage, helping patients understand their insurance benefits, navigating the claims process, and resolving coverage disputes. Care coordination: Coordinating patient care with healthcare providers/pharmacies and other support services. Medication management: Assisting patients with managing their medication regimen, including refills, adherence, and side effect management. Patient education: Providing information about the medication, its benefits, and potential side effects. PSPs are designed to improve patient outcomes and adherence to medication regimens. They can be particularly beneficial for patients with complex conditions, high-cost medications, or those facing financial difficulties.
